Flood relief – Charsadda, Nowshehra, Pubbi and Peshawar motorway

Adnan Mufti, a young chartered accountant I know in Karachi, sent information about relief efforts by a group of educated, dedicated and committed individuals he knows working in parts of Charsadda, Nowshehra, Pubbi and Peshawar motorway areas. Charsadda, incidentally, was the home of Bacha Khan, the ‘Frontier Gandhi’ (see report Charsadda lies in ruins).

They “include Dr. Abdullah, Deputy Registrar & Lecturer (Social Sciences) Kohat University; Tahir Farooqui, Timelenders (tel. +92-333-2161256); and another fully operational team of 25 people (specially trained students for the relief work). They are doing this under the umbrella of Hunarmand Pakistan Foundation, a relief organization & vocational training center formed in 2009” to help those impacted by the Swat Operation. They had at the time set up a vocational training center for IDPs.

They now require funds to provide food, shelter, medicine, clothes, emergency vans / ambulance service etc. Adnan writes: “Please donate generously as these are homeless people with NO FOOD, NO WATER and almost nothing to live with except for hope.” Bank account details for donations:

Acct Title: Tahir Farooqui
Acct #: 0111-03600000723 (Savings Account)
Meezan Bank Ltd.
Saba Palace, Shahrah-e-Faisal, Karachi. Pakistan
Swift Code: Meznpkka

Donations in cash / cheques or ready to eat and drink packaged food (eg. bottled water, dates, biscuits, milk packs and juices, bhuna howa chana, powder milk) may also be sent to Adnan at the address below. “Please DO NOT contribute any other items except for the above mentioned since the displaced people do not have cooking facilities.”

  5. Thank you Beena for all the help and efforts you made for the flood victims. I recently got to know from the key relief worker that your message for donations was warmly reciprocated and responded. As a result, huge funds were generated and people were relieved – to the extent possible !

I am thankful to you for spreading my request via your blog. You indeed made a great difference !
